About Us and Our Church

Sunday Morning Worship, Teaching and Fellowship

This is our flagship event, and no two Sundays are the same. We spend time in Worship and we have a growing team of talented musicians and singers who help us into the presence of God through song. We may take some time to listen to testimonies—stories of the way God has helped us, used us, guided us and spoken to us, often really exciting! We always look at the Bible, and read it together. We listen to someone, usually the Pastor, but, thankfully, not always, sharing some thoughts about what the Bible says. We have coffee, tea, cake or biscuits when the service is over, along with some really deep and meaningful conversations . . . or not! What IS certain is that we have a great time getting to know one another, and we have a lot of friends that can be counted on.

Our services are open to anyone to attend, whether you’re looking for a new church, on holiday, taking a break from your usual church, or just plain nosey, and want to find out what happens in that huge building on Bailey Hill on SUNDAYS at 10:30am.

We are part of the Evangelical Alliance

About the Building

Capel Pendref —a brief history

King’s Christian Centre has a rich heritage. Our facility—Capel Pendref—was originally built on land given by Sir Thomas Mostyn in 1828 to accommodate a small, but steadily growing Methodist congregation.

By 1837 the congregation had swelled to six deacons and eighty-three members.

In 1905, during the time of Welsh revival, it was recorded that there were nine deacons, 145 members, 315 adherents or ‘grandawyr’ (literally translated ‘listeners’) with 204 attending Sunday school.†

The chapel was bought by the existing congregation from the Wesleyan Methodist Movement in March 2000, being re-named as ‘King’s Christian Centre’. To this day, Capel Pendref continues to be home to a thriving church community.

Meet The Team

Andy and Sue Leake – Pastors

Andy and Sue are the Pastors and Senior Leaders at King’s. They have been in Church Leadership for over 20 years and have been married for 44 years.  They have 3 children and 7 grandchildren.  Andy has a Social Work background. He loves sports, reading, and cooking. His passion is the local church and people and he has a real desire to release the potential of each Christian to fully serve Jesus Christ.  Sue enjoys reading (preferably in the sunshine beside a swimming pool!) and entertaining friends and family.  Her passion is to see the local church at the very center of the community, offering hope and showing love to those who don’t yet know Jesus.  She is also the Manager of Flintshire Foodbank.

Howard and Liz Litherland

Howard and Liz have been a member of King’s for some two decades now and has acted as our treasurer for much of that time.  Howard is also a member of the board of trustees for the KCC charity.  He is a keen photographer in his spare time.  Liz is very involved in our King’s Craft initiative.
