Here at King’s Christian Centre we welcome all children! We recognise they are the future generation of King’s so it goes without saying they are a huge part of our church family. Each child is valued, respected and encouraged.
The children join us for worship, which is part of the main service each Sunday, and lasts for approximately half an hour. Following the worship the children then go to a different room for a programme of teaching and fun!
We have two groups: King’s Little Kids is suited for pre-school children and King’s Kids for Primary School age children. Little bundles of joy, including their parents/ carers, are welcome to join the pre-school children.
Preschoolers require hands-on learning activities which enforce personal, emotional and social development, communication and language development and physical development.
This is achieved through planned activities for example stories, role play, action songs, craft activities, free play – eg construction, lego, musical instruments – all activities are linked to support a chosen Bible verse for that week.
Primary School aged children follow a planned session and are introduced to a Bible verse each week. The introduction can involve a short video, PowerPoint presentation, bible reading etc. The main part of the lesson will involve a craft activity to support the bible verse and develop the child’s knowledge further. We end the session with the children being able to share their work and viewpoints and finish with a prayer.
All children will be offered a healthy snack and drink at some point during the session. Like at all times throughout the session, we are still able to use Snack Time as a way to encourage pleases and thank yous, serving one another, all helping to tidy up and to encourage good manners.
Both groups use Scripture Union Light Live material, as we feel that a cohesive teaching programme for all children is important. We don’t just want to teach children about Jesus, we want them to come to know Him for themselves.
We welcome all children to join us on a Sunday, whether their parents come to church or not. We follow a Child Protection Policy, which is available on our website. All our King’s Kids and King’s Little Kids Team Leaders have passed an enhanced DBS check and have regular safeguarding training; we take the safety of the children in our care as our number one priority.
